Berry Appleman & Leiden announced the hiring of Edward Rios as a partner in the corporate immigration practice in the Dallas office. Rios is board certified in immigration and nationality law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. His practice focuses on immigration strategies for multinational companies and investors, as well as health care provider networks, research facilities, academic institutions, and cross-border manufacturing operations seeking to transfer key personnel to the United States.
Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP announced the addition of four new corporate associates in its Dallas office: Andrew Chon, Will Johnson, Vynessa Nemunaitis and Yuefan Wang. Chon was a corporate associate at a prominent law firm in Dallas before joining Weil. Johnson is returning to the firm’s Dallas office. Nemunaitis, prior to joining the Weil team, was an associate for a large international law firm. Wang was a corporate associate at a renowned law firm in Washington, D.C. before joining Weil’s Dallas office.

Texas State Representative Nicole Collier, who is also an attorney with the law firm of Eberstein & Witherite, was recently appointed to two committees to examine judicial system fairness and procedures. Collier will serve on the Joint Interim Committee on Judicial Selection and the Supreme Court Advisory Committee (SCAC). Attorney Rey Rodriguez, a partner in the Dallas civil appellate boutique Hankinson LLP, has been selected to the D Magazine 2014 list of The Best Lawyers in Dallas, marking his fourth consecutive selection among the city’s top legal counsel. Attorney Richard R. Orsinger, named partner in the family law boutique McCurley Orsinger McCurley Nelson & Downing, L.L.P., recently received the 2013 Franklin Jones Best Continuing Legal Education Article Award from the College of the State Bar of Texas. The award is given for the best CLE article on any topic
published by the State Bar of Texas in 2013. Orsinger earned the honor for his paper “170 Years of Contract Law,” which was presented in conjunction with the History of Texas Supreme Court Jurisprudence course in April 2013.
Tim Powers has been named to succeed Terry Conner as managing partner of Haynes and Boone, LLP, as of Jan. 1, 2015. Powers has been key in developing the firm’s international banking, finance and real estate investment practices. He has served in a variety of leadership roles. Outgoing managing partner Conner will continue to serve as part of Haynes and Boone’s leadership team focusing on overall firm strategy, institutional client relations, and community service. Powers, like Conner, is a member of the firm’s renowned finance section.
