BY DIMPLE DANG
Are you looking to increase your views on LinkedIn? If so, you should de nitely consider utilizing na- tive video on this site and its app. e native-video feature is available on your mobile device, so make sure to download the LinkedIn app. Also update your app to make sure that you have the latest version. When you open up the LinkedIn app and are on the home screen, next to the share box you will see the camcorder icon. Click on that to upload a video from your mobile device.LinkedIn has some requirements for uploading a video from your mobile device: the video must be at least 3 seconds long but cannot be more than 10 minutes long, and the maxi- mum le size is 5GB. As a rule of thumb, it is best to keep your videos under 3 minutes long, as peoples’ attention span is short.Make sure to include relevant hashtags and add any relevant links tagging people if you mention them in the video. LinkedIn also allows you to add the native video to your LinkedIn pro le.
SUBJECT MATTER
Now that you know how to create a native video in LinkedIn, you might be wondering, "What should I actu- ally talk about in the video?"
e video does not necessarily have to be about unique thoughts and ideas; rather it can be a summary of your opinion on other peoples’ thoughts. It could even be about a book that you read—you could share your takeaways from the book—or a recent podcast that you listened to. Try to share your perspective of a particular topic or something other people can bene t from.Another great concept for creating video content on LinkedIn is to re- cord Q&A-style interviews. You can invite a guest whom you’d like to interview to your o ce or studio to shoot the video. Have a list of questions prepared so that it will make it simple to go through the interview in a logical manner.
You may want to check out the Mevo camera, which allows you to record interview-style videos. e camera automatically zooms in on the person who is speaking, generating the e ect of having a professional crew without actually hiring one. It also has advanced technology that allows you to live-stream to Facebook and other social
networks. If you choose to not invest in a Mevo camera, you can simply use your iPhone or android device to re- cord. Get a tripod from Amazon that has a remote control. is will allow you to start recording and end the record- ing with the push of a button. Also consider proper light- ing, which essential. If you don’t have su cient lighting, consider getting some box lights from Amazon that will provide it.
ACTION!
If you’re unable to do a face-to-face interview, it’s also possible to record a video using tools like Zoom or Sky- pe for business. If your law rm has already been creat- ing quality content via blogging or publishing content to other legal publications, then determine which articles have been the most popular or have had the highest en- gagement. en make a list of topics and repurpose them to create videos for your LinkedIn page.If you’re the type of person who needs a script to feel comfortable produc- ing a video, then consider using the Teleprompter app called BigVu Teleprompter. is is a free app that is avail- able for iOS and Android users. ere’s also a paid ver- sion of the app that has more advanced features. e rst step in using the app will be to write your headline and your script. Once you have done that, and you’re ready to record the video, simply tap the top right-hand-side icon to begin recording.Another tip for using LinkedIn video, is to participate in hashtag campaigns. Do some research on LinkedIn to determine which hashtags are the most popular and create a strategy to develop videos around a particular hashtag. Go to the section that is called com- munities in your pro le, tap the pencil icon and start add- ing your favorite hashtags. is will allow you to see which topics are trending/popular and how many subscribers are following each hashtag.LinkedIn video is a great addition to your overall law rm marketing strategy.
