In Memoriam Felipe Plascencia 1965 – 2019
 e legal community mourns the loss of renowned trail attorney and political activist Felipe Plascencia, who perished Feb. 23 in an airplane crash in the Tehachapi Mountains.
Plascencia was nationally regarded as an expert in DUI cases.Prior to opening his own practice, Plascencia served as a Los Angeles County deputy public defender, as well as a deputy city attorney for the city of Compton.
Plascencia was known for his charming down-to-earth style in front of a jury and his relentless advocacy on behalf of his clients. In 2009 he was recognized as the Attorney of the Year by the Mexican American Bar Association. Plascencia remained active in California politics and was president of the Mexican American Bar Association Political Action Committee from 2005 to present.
Plascencia is survived by his wife, Yolan- da, and his daughters, Magali and Alena, as well as his father, Rafael, and six siblings. He was 53.
