Ward and Smith Marketing Director Laura Hudson said she wanted our story about the rm’s new Raleigh o ces to look like an article in Vanity Fair. Our photographer, Robert Filcsik of Headshots and Corporate knew exactly what she meant. I hope you enjoy the photo spread.
Raleigh law partners Ryan Oxendine and James Barnes came to the practice of personal injury law from very di erent directions in life, but in “Light At the End of e Tunnel” you’ll read about how they are opposite sides of the same coin.
Raleigh lawyer Sean Cole and his twisted, merry band of singers, performers and musicians raised over $90,000 for NC Legal Aid with the WCBA Limine Awards Show in November, “ e Greatest Show on Earth” and a silent auction. We took lots of photos!
Veteran song and dance man Sam Fleder shined brightly trod- ding the boards in the show. And in our Young Attorney Spotlight he talked about his day job, helping cra beer brewers launch their own breweries.
Raleigh lawyer Laurie Gengo and I met for co ee in October to discuss a possible expert column. We never got around to the conversation instead, we spent the entire time talking about our favorite “blue” comedians. Gengo is a sponsor of the new National Comedy Center in Jamestown, NY. In “Night At the Museum” read about how the success of her rm has enabled her to pursue causes she believes in like the Center
Raleigh law rm Everett Gaskins Hancock is the rst law rm to le a lawsuit against opioid makers who attorneys Ed Gaskins and Katie King said are partially responsible for the run-up in health insurance premiums
I was privileged to attend the NC Bar Foundation’s October re- ception to honor Raleigh lawyer Wade Smith for creating the Wade M. Smith Justice Fund to bene t Legal Aid of N.C. e usually quiet and shy Smith led the crowd in a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday to celebrate his 81st. It was a tting tribute to a true gentle- man, a world class lawyer and a pretty ne musician.
Happy Holidays,
Bob Friedman
