Michael R. Mazzella III has joined Polsinelli as an associate in the Real Estate Finance practice. Michael earned his undergraduate degree magna cum laude from the University of Ari- zona in 2015 and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 2018 where he was the Di- rector of Outreach for the Georgetown Law Technol- ogy Review. Michael was awarded Outstanding Trial Brief and Outstanding Oral Advocate at the South
Texas Mock Trial Championships in 2018 as well as Best Oral Advocate at the John Costello Criminal Law Competition in 2017.
Jay Berryman recently transferred from Polsinelli’s Kansas City o ce to Phoenix. Jay is an associate in the Corporate and Transactional prac- tice. Jay earned his undergraduate de- gree cum laude from the University of Colorado Springs in 2009 and his law degree from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2014 where he was the Senior Sta Articles Editor
of the Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy. Jay is licensed to prac- tice in both Kansas and Missouri.
Arizona Supreme Court Associate Justice John Pelander provided no- tice of his retirement from the bench to Governor Doug Ducey, e ective March 1, 2019. Justice Pelander has served on the supreme court for nine years, having been appointed by Governor Brewer in 2009. He previ- ously served on the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division II for 14 years, in- cluding roles as Vice Chief Judge and Chief Judge.
