e Honorable Hayzel B. Daniels was the rst African-American to pass the Arizona State Bar exam. In 1950, he became one of the rst two black elected state rep- resentatives in the Arizona legis- lature. He was heavily involved in politics and an avid supporter of the NAACP. In 1965, Haze made history again when he became the rst African-American judge in the state of Arizona. He served the bench for 13 years.
